NASA Proof Strike Plate of the Apollo Program Medallion for the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing. A 1/16-inch thick stainless steel plate with a die-proof strike on each side. The 2.5-inch circular strike has the Apollo - NASA Program emblem with "Lunar Landing July 1969" written along the outer ring. The reverse has the Apollo 11 crew names and stamped signatures with the wording: "The die for this medallion was carried to the Moon and back by the crew of Apollo 11 in July 1969." Approximately 6x6 inches with three 4x4 inch photographic negatives used in the production of the die. (ECR) NASA, 1969
- Notes: After the die was returned from the Apollo 11 flight, it was used to strike medallions for presentation to NASA and Industry personnel as well as key political figures and dignitaries. This plate has the test strike made prior to production.
