Niklaus Troxler 1947 Cecil Taylor Solo. 1989 49.75 x 35.75 inches. Siebdruck Bosch, Lucerne. Condition B+: abrasions and wrinkles in image. After the conclusion of his studies and a short stint as an Art Director at the Hollenstein Creation Studio in Paris, Troxler settled in his small hometown of Willissau in Switzerland in order todevote himself to his two passions: jazz and posters. With the help of his brother, he began organizing jazz concerts in his barn as early as 1966 By 1975, it had become a music festival that is known worldwide and where all major jazz musicians have played. Each concert provides Troxler with the chance to design a new poster, each one a unique manifestation of his ever-changing, flamboyant, and colorful style. Uwe Loesch, the brillant German graphic designer, commented on this poster in his book, noting that Troxler "has produced at least six if not seven outstanding notations which have already gone down in the history of design." This poster is most certainly one of them. ref. Jazz Boulevard by Niklaus Troxler Poster,Lars Muller Publishers, Baden-Switzerland, 1999 - p. 129, full page color.
