Pierre Mendell Design Process Auto. 1986 46.5 x 33 inches. ConditionA. After studying with Armin Hofmann at the College of Design in Basel and then working with Michael Engelmann, Mendell opened the studio Mendel & Oberer with Klaus Oberer in 1961, where they handle all elements of graphic design, from book design to packaging. In 1966, Munich's Neue Sammlung organized an exhibition of automobile design. Mendell designed the poster, which features a tire in each corner, with the rest left blank so that the product could be revealed at the show. This way, he allowed viewers to discover the exhibition on their own without taking the freshness out of the subject. ref.
