OLIVETTI / DIVISUMMA. 1953.
27 1/2x19 3/4 inches. N. Moneta, Milan.
Condition A. Paper.
During the 50s and 60s Olivetti produced some of the best advertising campaigns in the world, thanks to Giovanni Pintori, who led the graphic arts department, and Walter Ballmer, who was responsible for advertising and public relations. They commissioned the best designers in the world including Bayer who, in 1953, produced this image. A poetical, quasi-abstract evocation of the paper rolls of an Olivetti calculator, this image was very close to his personal free exploration in painting and drawing. This type of highly artistic design helped build the innovative image of Olivetti.
ref: The Modern Poster, by Stuart Wrede, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1988, p.188 no. 206.
