A. B. (DATES UNKNOWN) HUPMOBILE. Circa 1925.
35x23 1/2 inches. Federal Litho. Co., Detroit.
Condition B+: losses, minor staining, and repaired tears in margins affecting the image. Framed.
The Detroit-based Hupp Motor Company produced cars in America between 1909 and 1940. Over half a million cars rolled off the company's production line until the Depression destroyed the company's stability. Even in 1934, when Raymond Lowey designed a car for the company, sales weren't brisk enough to put the company back on its feet. Here, in what is likely a 1925 Model E Sedan, elegant theater goers are depicted against a wonderous neon-lit city-scape, possibly Detroit Chicago.
