POSTER: DESIGNER UNKNOWN. LLEGIU L'OPINIÓ. Ci
DESIGNER UNKNOWN LLEGIU L'OPINIÓ. Circa 1935.
39 3/4x27 1/2 inches, 101x69 1/2 cm.
Condition B+: minor loss in right margins and top right corner; repaired tears at edges.
The Barcelona-based L'Opinió a daily newspaper, was the political organ of the Catalunian left. It was highly regarded and popular with the intelligentsia and Spanish Republicans. During the 1930s the newspaper advertised itself in an active and sophisticated manner. They employed excellent artists, such as Josep Aluma, Helios Gomez and Antoni Clavé (see Swann Modernist Poster Auction #1897, lot 45). This anonymous poster is in the same modernist vein as the other designs, visually implying the speed at which information travels through large cities. Guerra Civil pps. 52-53.
