J. Garrigues." Philadelphia: Merrihew and Gunn, 1837 E250/350 FIRST EDITION. One of the most important steps in solidifying the anti-slavery movement was consolidating smaller societies into a large one statewide. At this Convention were luminaries James Forten, Lewis Tappan, and poet John Greenleaf Whittier (who contributed 5 original pieces printed here for the first time).
