  • Notes: second american edition, rare, only one copy located by OCLC, at the Schomburg Center. Prince Naimbanna, son of King Naimbanna, was brought to England by the Sierra Leone Company in 1791, to be educated in English and religion. In 1793, the prince decided to return to Africa to convert his people to Christianity, but died while on the voyage home. The present work was first published by Zachary Macaulay, son of Lord Macaulay, in 1796. Drawn from Naimbanna's extempore speech before the House of Commons, and notes "taken by companions."
