STRAVINSKY, IGOR. Typed Letter Signed, to Swiss diplomat Walter de Bourg ("Dear Mr. De Bourg"), in French, asking him to reassure Stravinsky's son Theodore that he is working on sending money in dollars and complaining that current conditions make it impossible to correspond via cable on the subject of money. 1 page, 8vo, personal stationery; horizontal folds. Hollywood, 28 April 1943

  • Notes: "My letter was only just mailed when I received a cable from my son Theodore in Geneva, concerning exactly a question I raised in point 4 of my letter to you. The cable reads precisely thus: 'Obtain release of dollars please instantly send dollars COD. . .' instead of Swiss francs, which I told him to send originally. Please tell him that I am making the necessary arrangements with the Swiss Bank Corporation in New York to satisfy his demands. As you know, it is impossible at the moment to correspond by cable on this subject, despite the fact that I have been agitating for a legal license concerning these transactions. . . ."
