The Theatre St. Georges was opened by Camille Choisy, the former director of Paris' famed horror theatre, the Grand Guignol, and his partner Jacques Albert. Having worked with Colin at their previous venue, the men chose him to design this poster announcing the opening of the new theater. Comical in a grotesque way, the poster promises a season filled with laughter and horror and offers the visual metaphor "look what we have just opened up, come on in and see," aiming to attract customers of the Grand Guignol to this new theater. While the poster is dated 1928, delays in construction postponed the actual opening of the theatre until February 8, 1929. The theater, which survives, was designed by the famous modernist architect Charles Siclis. He also designed Le Theatre de Pigalle, whose entire graphic line was created by Jean Carlu.
