Engravedmap, 505x425 mm, margins trimmed within the platemark but outside the neat line; hand-colored; minor toning, very light folds, lower right corner restored (not affecting map or text), appears to be backed. Nicely framed. E3,000/4,000 FIRST ISSUE, FIRST STATE of this importantAmerican Revolution map. The only issue to show Manhattan in American hands prior to the British invasion, indicating the location of the British fleet and with both armies depicted in colored rectangles. Published in London only seven weeks after the battle, the first issueappeared as a broadside. Subsequent issues contained text beneath the map detailing the British victory.
