Yves Saint Laurent 1936 Love. Group of four posters. 1970, 1971, 1972, 1979 Sizes vary, each approximately 21 x 15 inches. Condition varies, generally A-. Paper. A rare group of four graphic prints Seasons Greetings, signed by one of the most famous post-war French fashion designers, Yves Saint Laurent. After the commencement of his studies, Saint Laurent was hired by Christian Dior, the king of Parisian Haute Couture. When Dior died in 1958, Saint Laurent took his place at the ripe old age of 21! Returning from the army in 1961,he founded his famous eponymously-named company with Pierre Berge. Attuned to the culture of the 1960s, he became influenced by Pop Art and the work of Andy Warhol, an influence that can clearly be seen inthese simple drawings that bear a strong resemblance to some of the early advertising work of Warhol. The French post office issued a stamp in 2000 that was designed by Saint Laurent and features a heartdrawn in very much the same style as these drawings.
