A COMPLETE RUN OF THIS RARE REVOLUTIONARY PUBLICATION
,
co-written by a small
group of students and Charlie Cobb, former secretary for SNNC, and proprietor of the Drum
and Spear Bookshop. The Pan African was a serious periodical aimed for the most part at
African Americans, in an attempt at making them aware of the problems faced by their “broth-
ers,” the people of the newly emerging African republics. There is also a great deal of writing
about local domestic issues, with articles about the civil rights struggle, the Panthers, etc. Danky
4710 cites this publication but obviously had not seen a complete run.

of this very curious narrative about the author, a dentistry student’s youth in
Liberia. Not the usual religion tainted tale, DeWalt’s narrative deals more with hunting inci-
dents and the dangers of the forest, including a two-headed snake—one at each end (!) While
the title-page lists four other titles by DeWalt, this is the only one listed by OCLC (four
copies located).
