The Apollo Theatre’s “Amateur Night” has been the traditional “launching pad” for so many
young artists over its more than half-century history that it is almost impossible to give a list of
the artists who began there. These photographs of singer Dolphus Prince were taken by the
house photographer Gordon “Doc” Anderson for the purpose of promotion and for larger
images for the lobby.
