chipped and rear joint cracked but cords
intact; generally clean, rich impressions of
the engravings, with only a few double-page
plates browned. Laid in is a Letter Signed in
German from Prince George of Denmark
and Norway, husband of Queen Anne I of
England, to King Frederick IV of Denmark
and Norway, offering condolences on the
death of the King’s younger brother Prince
William. 2 pages with integral blank. St.
James’s Palace, 4 December 1705.

the first volume of Jacques Saurin’s Discours . . .
sur les Evenemens les plus Memorables duVieux,
et du Nouveau Testament, missing the title page
but presumably the 1720 first edition, which is
dedicated to George I. From the library of Charles
Spencer (1674-1722), third Earl of Sunderland,
sold as lot 11125 in the Blenheim Palace sale at
Puttick & Simpson on 10 March 1883.
