Blaine”:Two Autograph Documents * Document. Each signed as Commissary General of

Purchases or as Deputy C.G.P., regarding supplies for the Revolutionary Army.The first, to

“President of the Delaware State” Ceasar Rodney, requesting additional flour.The second,

to Colonel Hugh Hughes in Fishkill, concerning salt.The third, DS, to Virginia Governor

Thomas Nelson, reporting that boats had already been dispatched to collect supplies and

deliver them as quickly as possible. Each 2 pages, tall 4to, with integral address leaf.

Signed, “Geo:Read AttyPltff,” requesting an arrest warrant for Thomas Davis, who

allegedly assaulted Thomas James, plaintiff in a case seeking £5,000 in damages. 1 page,

oblong 8vo; small hole at center with minor loss to text, toning along right edge, vertical

folds. (MRS)

James of a Plea wherefore with Force and Arms . . . the said Thomas James did beat wound
