the British soldier in India. They are important; being just the points which a careful N[on]
C[ommissioned] officer would note in his daily life. . . .

I wish that we could have had your evidence before the Commission on the sanitary state of
the Army in India.
I send you a paper of mine, reprinted (not by me) which was laid before that Commission. . . .”
