Governor, land deed granting 337 acres “in the District of Camden [near Camden, SC]” to

Charles McCoy. With a survey of the granted land including plat map in an unknown

hand, dated May 3, 1794, bound to deed with ribbon at lower center. 10

Moultrie (1730-1805) was a Revolutionary general whose actions saved Charleston from cap-

ture in 1779, later was taken prisoner when the city fell, and, after the war, served as governor

of South Carolina, 1785-87, and 1794-96.
