The Collection of Neil Robert Berzak

  • Condition: LOT 81

Margaret Bourke-White's "Contour Plowing, Walsh, Colorado" is a beautiful photograph and overall in very good condition. The tones of the print are rich and lush, with a wide range of dimensional values and compelling detail.

Under very close inspection in strong raking light, a few slight scattered surface imperfections can be seen. Light dimpling in the paper is likely from the mounting process. These imperfections are obscured by the graphic quality of the print.

The margins are overall clean and bright. There are a few scattered fine creases mainly sequestered to the bottom left corner and edge as well as the upper right corner. These are unobtrusive with only a few lightly touching the edge of the image area.

The mount recto is warm with a few remnants of a prior overmat. The verso of the mount is overall clean with Bourke-White's credit.

Overall this is a beautiful example of Bourke-White's ability to capture the art in everyday America.

Provenance: The Collection of Neil Robert Berzak.
