Paul Colin 1892-1986 Paul Colin. 1979 23 x 15 inches. Deprest, Paris Condition B+: tear and crease in top margin. Paper. Paul Colin became famous as the artist who created posters introducing JosephineBaker and La Revue Negre in 1925 in Paris. He also did many posters and stage designs for other Parisian productions. After the war, he directed more and more of his talents into painting, using as his inspiration the image of Paris in the gay Twenties. This rare little poster is for an exhibition that took place in 1979 when he was 82 and probably featured much of Colin's later work. It is interesting to note, however, that until his retirement at the age of 90, Colin always dated his work as the year 1925, no doubt a tribute to his favorite era! ref.
