1 December 1948: “. . . I have two oils

here of Skipper K . . . Id be glad to send

em to you . . . . My barn here is so full

of a mis-spent pigmentary youth, middle age, not to say old age. . . . [H]ere I am 10 miles from the

family bone yard . . . so any time they want to get rid of the body etc, they aint got too far to go . . . .”

13 December 1948: “. . . In the . . . tube containing yr 2 mugs—one with moustache . . . Hazel . . .

can take her pick, if she can stand the original . . . & one on the wall in one life time.

. . .They are . . . good pictures, which pleases me, as I hate to give any one a lousy one . . . . [T]he

fewer pictures I have the better for me . . . .”
