for advertising in magazines or to illustrate magazine stories; generally large sizes on artist
board or gesso board, with various mediums used; many signed.

Advertising art from the 1960s has recently regained attention as a well-known illustrator of
the period was hired to provide period details for the popular television program “Mad Men.”
This group includes the work of some of the best known commercial illustrators of the day:
Bernie Fuchs (2 pieces), Joe De Mers (2 pieces), CamillaWhitmore (3 pieces), B. Peake (3
pieces), plus numerous others. Should be seen to be appreciated.
442 ● (ADVERTISING—COSTUME.) Group of 5 color lithographed advertising
cards for President suspenders, 4 of them F. Earl Christy (3 appear to be calendar
covers), most 131/2 x83/4 inches; small nicks on edges of several, mounting remnants on verso.

443 ● (ALBUMS.) Two albums with mounted Victorian era scrap. First with
approximately 430 mounted American trade cards, a mix of overprinted stock cards and
advertiser issued cards, plus scattered diecuts for embellishment. The second with
approximately 150 mounted diecuts, from small to some impressively large examples. 4to
and small folio, original bindings now defective.

consisting of a book in a box with strange illustrations which begin to make sense when
viewed through two holes in the box cover and through a revolving disk behind the cover.
