A wonderful sermon, using the game of baseball as a metaphor for life’s struggle of good versus
evil. “The arena where the game is to be played . . . The time has come . . . the Umpire. . . the
enthusiastic crowd yells and cheers . . . one of three things must happen, hit safe, walk or some-
body must err . . . the Apostle said, so run . . . A sacrifice sometimes will do more to win than
a home run. . . the Umpire is watching . . .Satan’s team is strong and cunning. . . his pitchers
throw balls all around . . .he makes you swing at them, and every now and then he puts a fast
one across the middle of the plate.” Finally the reverend reminds us that “The Game of life is
not over until Satan has pitched his last ball.”
