printed in black letter. 2 parts in one volume. Folio, 275x178 mm, late 19th-century

pigskin over wooden boards, joints rubbed, minor discoloration on covers; preliminaries

trimmed and inlaid to size, outer margin of most of the remaining leaves reinforced with-

out text loss.

William Laud; second issue of the Psalter, with last gathering in 6 leaves. “Although this

prayer book was unacceptable at the time of its introduction . . . it influenced some details of the

English revision of 1661-2 . . . It also provided a model for the American BCP of 1789 and

its successors”—Griffiths 1637/9. STC 16606.
